Does Crest work without internet?
Yes. Core features including Franci AI, offline maps, SOS, and survival guides work entirely without a signal. Download maps for your region before heading out for the best experience.
How do I download maps for offline use?
Open the Map tab, tap the download button, and select your region. Maps are stored on your device and available immediately without any connection.
How do I share a trail with the community?
After creating a route in the Trail Builder, tap Save and choose "Share with Community". No account required — trails are shared anonymously.
What does the SOS screen do?
The SOS screen shows your exact GPS coordinates, lets you copy them or send via SMS, dials 112, and provides offline survival guides including signal fire building and shelter construction.
What data does Crest collect?
Crest collects your GPS location (for core app features) and anonymous trail data when you share routes. No account is required and no personal data is linked to your identity.
My map isn't loading — what should I do?
Try zooming in or out once to trigger a tile refresh. If you haven't downloaded offline maps for your region, make sure you have an active internet connection on first use.

Third-Party Services

Crest uses NASA EONET for hazard data (public domain), OpenTopoMap and OpenStreetMap for map tiles (open data), and Supabase for anonymous trail storage. These services have their own privacy policies.
